USD Men Add Iowa Recruit

CARROLL, Iowa — Casey Kasperbauer, statistically one of the best long-range shooters in the state of Iowa, verbally committed to the University of South Dakota men’s basketball program on Monday night, his coach confirmed to the Press & Dakotan.

A 6-foot-1 guard from Carroll, Iowa, Kasperbauer averaged 20 points a game last season and earned first team all-state Class 3-A honors.

Carroll head coach Craig Douma said Kasperbauer visited USD last weekend and informed the Coyote coaches Monday. Kasperbauer also announced his decision via Twitter on Monday night.

“He’s probably one of the best shooters in the nation, when you look at his percentages,” Douma said. “He made over 80 (three-pointers) last season and shot 50 percent.”
