Brecke, Malloy Give Verbal Commits

A pair of area Class A girls’ basketball standouts gave their verbal commitments to NCAA Division II programs over the weekend.

Devon Brecke of Wagner committed to Northern State and Marie Malloy of Parkston told the Press & Dakotan she committed to the University of Sioux Falls.

Both play for the Dakota Blue Devils club team during the summer and will be seniors in the fall.

Brecke, a 5-foot-9 guard, averaged 20.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game and earned first-team Class A all-state honors as a junior. She also helped lead Wagner to consecutive state volleyball titles as a freshman and sophomore.

Malloy, a 5-foot-5 guard, averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4.3 assists points per game for the Trojans last season. She was named to the Class A third team as a junior.
