The international flavor for the University of South Dakota men’s and women’s basketball teams is really intensifying of late.
The Coyote men’s program already boasts a native Brazilian (Ricardo Andreotti), and has signed a recruit from Canada (Brandon Bos) and a transfer from the United Kingdom, via Northeast Nebraska Community College (Nick Mabbutt).
And now, the Coyote women have signed a native Australian. Nicole Seekamp, a 5-foot-10 guard from Renmark, South Australia, Australia, inked on Monday. This February, she captained the South Australian team in the U20 Championships, and last year she led the Australian U19 Women’s Team to a world championship. And back in 2009, she represented South Australia in the U18 Australia Championships. In other words, certainly an interesting resume.
It goes without saying, but each player has taken his or her own path to Vermillion, but it is worth noting that the recruiting efforts of both coaching staffs is reaching beyond its previous realms.

Going back to a more local feel, Brandon Valley junior guard Heidi Hoff verbally committed to USD over the weekend. She helped lead the Lynx to the 2011 Class AA state championship, the first ever at the school. I’ll have more on Hoff tomorrow (Tuesday).
