Thursday’s edition of the Yankton Press & Dakotan had a pair of stories about athletes headed to the University of South Dakota.
** First, former Wagner High School standout Jilanne Doom told me this week that she plans to transfer to USD to run cross country and track. Doom, a freshman at Concordia University-Irvine in California, had surgery on one shoulder during volleyball season last fall and injured the other shoulder, effectively ending her volleyball career.
** Second, the USD men’s basketball team got a commitment this week from Nick Mabbutt, a 6-foot-9 forward from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb. He averaged 10.6 points and 6.5 rebounds as a sophomore last season, and will have two years of eligibility with the Coyotes.
Also, keep an eye on my Twitter updates (the feed is to the right) for potential news on another change to the USD men’s basketball roster.
