Meant to post this Monday, but didn’t get a chance. Speaking of which, how was your Memorial Day holiday? Hopefully the rain didn’t cause too many headaches (other than those at the State B High School Baseball Tournament).
Anyway, here are some assorted football notes from teams across the Great West Conference.
** Former USD star running back Amos Allen signed a free agent contract with the British Columbia (BC) Lions of the CFL. Interestingly, Allen could fill the void in the Lions’ backfield left by the departure of former Coyote Stefan Logan, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
** Athletic directors at the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State discussed “briefly” the topic of scheduling each other. Gene Taylor (NDSU) said the earliest the Bison would schedule UND in football would be 2012.
** UC Davis will be playing at the University of California in 2010. The game is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 4, 2010.
** Cade Cooper, a senior transfer from the University of Oregon, was named Southern Utah’s starting quarterback after his performance in the annual Red-White scrimmage.
