University of South Dakota football defensive coordinator Jarod Dodson has been hired as cornerbacks coach at the University of Buffalo, UB head coach Turner Gill announced today.
Dodson comes to Buffalo after five seasons with the Coyotes, where he was promoted to D-coordinator before the 2008 season. USD allowed 18.6 points per game last season, which ranked 14th nationally and best in the Great West Conference.
“Coach Dodson’s interpersonal skills and experience as both a secondary coach and defensive coordinator made him the perfect fit for our defensive staff,” Gill said in a statement.
This is a huge loss for the Coyotes. Simply put, Dodson was an up-and-comer who got along great with his players, from what I’ve seen and heard. He is well on his way to being a great Division I coach, and he’ll be a apart of a great program up in Buffalo.
I’ll have more on this story later.
