Cal Poly’s Ellerson Leaves For Army
The U.S. Military Academy at West Point (N.Y.) officially named Cal Poly coach Rich Ellerson as its new head coach on Friday.

Ellerson’s Cal Poly Mustangs won the Great West Conference this season with a 3-0 record, including a 44-29 victory over the University of South Dakota. In eight seasons at Cal Poly, Ellerson was 56-34 with three conference championships and two Football Championship Subdivision playoff berths.
With already two candidate interviews conducted, Cal Poly is moving quickly with its coaching search, the San Luis Obispo Tribune reports. And don’t be surprised if the school lures a Bowl Championship Subdivision assistant.
