Coyotes Get First D-I Win
The wait is over.
Thanks to 445 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, the University of South Dakota football team earned its first Division I win on Saturday, routing Southern Utah 42-20.
The Coyotes (6-4) won their fourth-straight game and their first at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level — after four road losses this season. In its last four games, USD has out-scored opponents 176-23.
It was also USD’s first Great West Conference win, and all the more impressive when you consider that Southern Utah upset North Dakota 15-14 last week.
And now the table is set for next Saturday’s showdown between USD and North Dakota in Vermillion.
